1. Information we collect
Account and authentication information
MajorMap collects the name, username, email address, and authentication information needed to create and secure an account. If you sign in with Google, Google may provide your name, email address, and an identifier associated with that sign-in. Passwords are processed by our authentication service and are not shown to other users.
Profile and academic information
We collect information you choose to provide, including grade, school, GPA, SAT or PSAT scores, interests, biography, and optional Instagram, LinkedIn, or public email details. Major selections and quiz answers are processed to provide app features and recommendations.
School communities and messages
When you join a school community, we store that membership and the messages you send. We also process your Daily SAT practice streak and related progress.
Technical information
We may receive limited technical information necessary to operate and protect the service, including request logs, session identifiers, device platform, network address, timestamps, and error information.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, and secure accounts;
- provide profiles, major exploration, recommendations, and saved preferences;
- operate school communities, rankings, chats, and student profile features;
- track Daily SAT practice progress and streaks;
- respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests;
- prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and maintain the service; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
MajorMap does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party advertising.
4. Services and storage
Account and community data is stored in MajorMap's self-hosted PocketBase service. Your device stores your login session and appearance preference using device storage. If you use Google sign-in, Google processes the authentication request under Google's own privacy terms.
During school search, the search terms you enter may be sent to public school-directory services, including the U.S. National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), Kazakhstan eGov sources, and Wikidata, to return matching schools. Those services process requests under their own terms and policies.
MajorMap is designed for use over the internet, so information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live.
5. Retention
We keep account information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, protect users, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Operational logs are retained only as reasonably necessary for security and maintenance.
When an account is deleted, we delete or de-identify personal data associated with that account, subject to limited retention required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. School chat messages may remain in the community conversation in de-identified form so the conversation remains understandable. You may contact us to request review or removal of a specific message.
6. Account and data deletion
You can delete your MajorMap account directly in the app:
- Open Profile.
- Open Settings.
- Select Delete account.
- Confirm the request using your password.
You can also request deletion without access to the app by emailing mrrawapple@gmail.com with the subject “MajorMap account deletion request.” Include the username or email address on the account, but never send your password. We may ask you to verify account ownership before processing the request.
Deleting an account removes the profile, academic information, school membership, private profile details, and authentication record associated with it, subject to the retention limits described above.
7. Your choices
You can update profile and academic information, control optional profile-detail sharing, leave a school community, sign out, or delete your account from Settings. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls, and protected device storage for login sessions. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and protect access to your device and account.
9. Students and children
MajorMap is intended for students age 13 and older. If you are under the age at which you can consent to data processing where you live, use MajorMap only with permission from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information without proper permission should contact us so the account and associated information can be reviewed and deleted.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MajorMap changes. We will publish the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app.
